The Ancient Celts believed that the most important things come in threes: the three domains (land, sky, and sea), the three elements (earth, water, and fire), life, death, and rebirth, and many more. They believed that each point of the Trinity Knot symbolises one part of each of these important trios.
The three points of the Trinity Knot are also thought to represent the three elements of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The motif is featured on many Early Christian artifacts from Ireland including ancient stone crosses and in the decorative art work of the famous Book of Kells.
